A skill is a saved set of instructions that teaches Bluedeer how to do one job well. Read What are skills? first if skills are new to you. The app has the same skills as the web, for the workspace you have selected, and this page shows where everything is on the phone.
Open your skills
- On Home, tap the button at the top right. It opens the account menu.
- Tap Customization. The page opens on the Skills tab. The Connectors and Plugins tabs are next to it.
Below the title there is a Yours | Discover toggle, a Search skills box and a filter button. The + Add button is at the top right of the page.
Find, try and add a skill
Tap Discover to see the skills you have not added yet.
- From Bluedeer at the top is one featured skill, with Add and Try.
- For you lists skills picked for you, one card per row. Skills that work with the apps you connected come first.
- New skills lists skills people shared in this workspace. Tap Show all to see every one.
Each card has Try and +:
- Tap Try to start a new chat that sends an example request with the skill chosen. Trying a skill does not add it.
- Tap + to add the skill. It moves to Yours and is turned on.
Tap a card to open the skill's page. It shows the skill's full instructions (tap Show full instructions for a long one), the requests you can try, and the files it carries. Tap a file to read it.
To search, type in Search skills. To narrow or order the list, tap the filter button next to the search box. A sheet opens where you can choose a category, turn on Works with my apps (in Discover) or Made by my team (in a shared workspace), and sort by Popular, Newest or A–Z. Tap Done to apply it, or Reset to go back to the default.
If Bluedeer's automatic check found something in a skill someone else made, such as a link, the app shows what it found before adding it. Tap Add anyway only if you trust the skill. A skill marked Needs Pro uses a tool your plan does not have.
Turn skills on and off
Tap Yours to see the skills you added or made in this workspace. The line under Yours shows how many skills you have turned on and how many of your own you made, against your plan's limits.
- Use the switch next to a skill to turn it on or off. A skill that is off stays in Yours but is not used, and your changes to it are kept.
- A skill that came with a plugin says so, for example "from Meetings". Remove from Yours is unavailable for it: turn it off here, or remove the plugin. See Use plugins on the phone.
- A lock instead of a switch means the skill is required by your workspace. It stays on.
- Tap ⋯ next to a skill for more. For Bluedeer's skills and shared skills, you can Open it, Make a copy of it to change your own version, or Remove from Yours. For your own skills, you can Edit, Duplicate, Share or Delete them.
Read How many skills you can turn on for the limits on each plan.
Use a skill in a chat
- In a chat, type / at the start of your message.
- A list above the message box shows the skills turned on in this workspace. Keep typing to narrow it, for example /deal.
- Tap a skill. The message now starts with its command, for example /deal-brief.
- Write the rest of your message after it and send it.
Tap × on the list to close it without choosing. If the list says no skills are turned on, tap Browse skills to open Customization.
A reply that used a skill shows a Using chip above it, for example Using Deal brief, whether you chose the skill or Bluedeer picked it by itself. The chip stays when you open the chat again. Tap it to open the skill.
Make your own skill
Tap + Add at the top right of Customization, then choose one of these:
- Create skill opens an empty form. Fill in Name, Command (what you type after "/"), When to use it (one line), and Instructions. You can also add up to five example requests and up to five text files. The Preview shows how the skill looks in the "/" list.
- Upload skill file opens the Files app. Pick a SKILL.md file, or a .zip with one skill in it, such as a skill made for Claude. The form opens with everything Bluedeer read from the file. Left out lists what Bluedeer does not keep, such as scripts. If the automatic check found something, tick the box under it to save anyway.
- Turn a chat into a skill lists your recent chats. Tap one and Bluedeer drafts a skill from it into the form.
Nothing is saved until you tap Save. A new skill is private to you and turned on. Read Make your own skill and Upload a skill file for what each field does.
You can also turn a chat into a skill from the chat's menu. In the list of chats, tap ⋯ next to a chat, then tap Turn this chat into a skill.
Share a skill
In a shared workspace, you can share a skill you made. Open it, or tap ⋯ next to it in Yours, then tap Share. Choose Only me or Everyone in this workspace. If your workspace's owner or admins approve shares first, the skill shows Waiting for approval until one of them approves it. Read Share a skill for more.
Skill rules for owners and admins
In a shared workspace, the owner and admins set the workspace's rules for skills in the app too:
- Tap the button at the top right of Home, then tap Manage workspace.
- On the General tab, under Skills and plugins, tap Skills.
Tap a skill by Bluedeer to choose Not available, Available to add, Added for everyone or Required. Skills people in the workspace made and shared are listed under Shared in this workspace as Available to add; they have no rule, and tapping one opens it. Under Who can share skills and plugins (one rule for both), choose Admins approve first or Anyone can share. Shares waiting for approval are listed under Waiting for approval, with Approve and Decline. Tap one to read all of it first. Read Skills in shared workspaces for what each rule does.
