These steps are for the web app. For the phone, see Use skills on the phone. A skill you make is private to you and turned on as soon as you save it. You can share it later; see Share a skill.
Create a skill
- Open Customization → Skills.
- Select Add, then Create skill.
- Fill in the form:
- Name: up to 80 characters.
- Command: the word you type after "/" to choose it. Bluedeer suggests one from the name. Use lowercase letters, numbers and dashes.
- When to use it: one line, up to 250 characters. It is sent with every message while the skill is on, so keep it short and clear.
- Instructions: what Bluedeer should do, in Markdown, up to 20,000 characters.
- Example requests (optional): up to five, one per line.
- Files (optional): up to five text files of up to 100,000 characters each, such as examples or a style guide. Select New file to write one, or Attach to add one from your computer. Files can be .md, .markdown, .txt, .csv, .tsv, .json, .yaml, .yml, .xml, .html or .htm.
- The In the "/" menu box shows how the skill will look in the list.
- Select Save.
If the command is already used by another skill in this workspace, the form asks you to choose another word.
Turn a chat into a skill
When a chat went well and you want Bluedeer to work that way again:
- In the sidebar, point at a chat you started and select ⋯, then Turn this chat into a skill. You can also select Add, then Turn a chat into a skill in Customization → Skills, and pick one of your recent chats.
- Bluedeer drafts the name, description and instructions from the chat. This takes a few seconds and uses your AI allowance like a message.
- Review and change the draft in the form, then select Save. Nothing is saved until you do.
A very short chat cannot be turned into a skill. Chat a little more first.
Edit, duplicate or delete
Open the skill from Yours, or select ⋯ next to it:
- Edit changes your own skill. Changes apply to new messages.
- Duplicate makes a private copy. On a skill by Bluedeer or someone else, this is Make a copy, so you can change your own version.
- Delete removes your skill for you and for anyone you shared it with. Past chats that used it still read correctly.
