Skills in shared workspaces

Owners and admins decide which skills people can use in a shared workspace, can add a skill for everyone or require it, choose who may share skills, and approve members' shares.

In a shared workspace, the owner and admins set the workspace's rules for skills. Members see the result in Customization → Skills. These steps are for the web app. For the phone, see Use skills on the phone.

Open the skill rules

  1. Select Workspace in the sidebar, then Settings.
  2. Select the Skills and plugins tab. It is shown to the owner and admins only. Rules for plugins are on the same tab; see Plugins in shared workspaces.

The rule for each skill

Each skill by Bluedeer has one of four rules:

  • Not available: hidden from everyone in the workspace.
  • Available to add: people can add it themselves. New workspaces start with every Bluedeer skill available to add.
  • Added for everyone: it is turned on for each person, who can still turn it off.
  • Required: it is on for everyone and nobody can turn it off or remove it. Members see a lock and the word Required.

Skills added for everyone or required do not count toward anyone's limit.

Skills that people in the workspace made and shared have no rule. They are listed under Shared in this workspace as Available to add: each person adds the ones they want, and nobody is made to use them.

Who can share skills

Under Sharing skills and plugins, choose (one rule covers skills and plugins):

  • Anyone can share: a member's skill is shared as soon as they share it.
  • Admins approve first: a member's share waits until the owner or an admin approves it. New workspaces start with this.

Approve members' shares

Skills waiting for approval are listed under Waiting for approval. Select one to read all of it, including its instructions and files, then select Approve or Decline.

Seats

A member without a seat can see the workspace's skills but cannot add, try, change or share any until they have a seat. The buttons and switches are still shown but are unavailable; point at one to see why, for example "You need a seat in Northstar Studio to add skills." On the phone, tap one to see the same explanation with Request a seat.
