Open Bluedeer

How do I get notifications in my browser?

Turn on Browser Notifications to get task results and notices from teammates on your computer, even when Bluedeer isn't open, and choose whether running tasks show a quiet notice.

These steps are for the web app. On the phone, see notifications on the phone.

Turn on browser notifications

  1. Open Settings, then App & System.
  2. Under Preferences, turn on Browser Notifications.
  3. Your browser asks whether Bluedeer may show notifications. Select Allow.

Bluedeer asks for this permission only when you turn the switch on. It never asks when a page loads.

Once it is on, this browser is one of your devices, like your phone. Notifications arrive even when no Bluedeer tab is open, as long as the browser itself is running. Each browser and computer you use has its own switch.

What you get

  • Task results. A task that notifies you finished with something to report, failed, or reached its limit. Each task's Completion notifications and Notify on failure settings decide whether a run notifies you. See How do I run, pause, edit or cancel a task?
  • Running tasks, if you choose. Once Browser Notifications is on, a Show running tasks switch appears below it. Turn it on for a quiet notification while a task runs. It makes no sound, and the task's result replaces it when the run ends. It is not shown while you are looking at a Bluedeer tab. This switch belongs to your account, so it also applies on your phone.
  • Notices from teammates. When a teammate's assistant notifies you or shares something with you. Push to my devices under Notices from teammates turns these off for every device, and Mute followed by a workspace's name turns them off for that workspace. See Choose whether notices reach your phone.

A newer notification about the same task replaces the older one, so you see one notification per task.

Every notification is also kept in the Inbox. When a notification arrives while Bluedeer is open, the Inbox updates at once. See Where do task results and notices appear?

Open a notification

Click a notification to open what it is about: the task for a task result, or the chat, task or project a teammate's notice links to. Bluedeer switches to the workspace the notification belongs to first. A notification that has nothing to open, or one about a task you can't open, opens that workspace's Inbox. If no Bluedeer tab is open, a new one opens.

Turn them off

Turn off Browser Notifications in Settings → App & System. This browser stops receiving notifications straight away. Signing out also stops them, and signing in again on this browser turns them back on for the account you sign in with.

When notifications don't arrive

  • "Blocked for this site." The browser was told not to allow Bluedeer's notifications. Allow notifications for Bluedeer in your browser's site settings (usually the icon to the left of the address), then turn the switch on.
  • "This browser can't show notifications." The browser doesn't support them, for example in some private windows.
  • Your computer's own settings. Your operating system can silence the browser's notifications, for example with Do Not Disturb or Focus. Check its notification settings for your browser.
  • The browser is closed. Notifications that arrive while the browser is closed are shown the next time it starts, if they haven't expired.
