Verify a domain for your team

How the owner adds a domain to a team and proves it with a DNS TXT record, and why this matters for a team's name.

Only the team owner can manage verified domains.

Why verify a domain

If your team's name looks like a well-known brand, the people you invite see "A Bluedeer workspace" on the invitation page and in the invitation email. This continues until you verify a domain that belongs to that brand. After that, they see your team's real name.

Add and verify a domain

  1. Open the team's Workspace page, select Settings, and find Verified domains on the General tab.
  2. Enter the domain, for example example.com, and select Add domain.
  3. Copy the TXT record that Bluedeer shows, using the copy button beside it.
  4. In the DNS settings for the domain itself, add a TXT record with this value. Do not add it to a subdomain.
  5. Return to Bluedeer and select Check now.

If your own sign-in email address is at the domain you enter, Bluedeer verifies the domain straight away, and you do not need a TXT record. Public email provider domains cannot be verified for a team.

DNS changes can take a while to appear. If the record is not there yet, wait a few minutes and select Check now again. A verified domain shows Verified, with Verified with a DNS record under it. Until then, it shows Not verified yet, with Waiting for the DNS record under it.

Remove a domain

Select Remove next to the domain and confirm. Its DNS record stops working. If you add the domain again, Bluedeer gives you a new record.
