Set team share link rules

The sharing settings that the owner or an admin can turn on or off for everyone in a team.

The owner and admins set the sharing rules for a team. Other members can read them but cannot change them.

Where to find them

Open the team's Workspace page, then select Settings. The Sharing panel is on the General tab.

The options

  • Share links: chats and files in the team can be shared with a link. When this is off, nobody can create share links, and every link already shared stops opening.
  • Links anyone can open: a link can be opened by anyone who has it, without signing in. This option needs Share links to be on.
  • Links that stay up to date: a link shows the latest version of what was shared. When this is off, a link shows only a copy from the moment it was made.
  • People outside the team: a link for specific people can include people who are not in the team. When this is off, such a link can name only active team members.
  • Who can create share links: choose The people who made what is shared, so members can create links for what they made, or Only the owner and admins. With the second choice, members cannot create share links, and the links they already created stop opening.

Turning off an option that existing links depend on asks you to confirm first. The confirmation explains what happens to those links.
