Every Bluedeer account has a referral code and a link. When someone you invite pays for a personal plan, you both get account credit. When enough of the people you invite have paid, you also get a badge and, from 10 people, a discount on web plans.
Your code and your link
Your code starts with BLUE- and is followed by seven characters. Each one is a capital letter or a digit from 2 to 9, for example BLUE-K7MQ2XD. Your link is the same code in a web address that starts with bluedeer.ai/referrals?code=.
On the phone, open Settings, go to the Account section and select Profile & plan. Select Subscription, then select Referrals. Your code is shown under Your referral code:
- Select Copy (or the code itself) to copy your invite link.
- Select Share to send the link from your phone. The message says "Join me on bluedeer!" and includes the link.
On the web, the same page is at bluedeer.ai/referrals, with a Copy link button.
The page also shows how many times your code has been used.
Using a code when you sign up
Your friend can enter your code when they create an account:
- On the web: click Have a referral code? under the password rules on the sign-up page, then enter it in Referral code (optional). Read How do I create a Bluedeer account? for the steps. If the code is not in the right form, a message appears under the field and Create account stays off until it is fixed.
- In the app: tap Have a referral code? on the sign-up screen and enter it.
If your friend opens your invite link, the code is already filled in.
The code is optional. If it cannot be used, the account is still created, and the code just does not count.
Who counts as a referral
A person counts once, when they use your code to create an account. They do not count if:
- they were already invited with another code,
- they have already paid for a personal plan, in the App Store, in Google Play or on the web,
- they are you. An account with the same email address as yours counts as you, even if it is written differently. Capital letters, a
+tag and dots in a Gmail address do not make a new person.
Once the person signs in with a confirmed account, they show as Signed up on your page. Signing up pays nothing by itself. Rewards are paid when the person first pays for a personal plan.
If you switch your code off, sign-ups with it no longer count.
What you and the person you invite get
When the person you invited pays for a personal plan for the first time, you both get a sign-up credit of $2. On top of that, you get a plan reward for their plan. They get a smaller plan reward too.
| Their first paid plan | You get | They get |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | $2 | $2 |
| Pro | $7 ($2 sign-up credit and $5 plan reward) | $4 ($2 sign-up credit and $2 plan reward) |
| Premium | $17 ($2 sign-up credit and $15 plan reward) | $7 ($2 sign-up credit and $5 plan reward) |
| Max | $42 ($2 sign-up credit and $40 plan reward) | $12 ($2 sign-up credit and $10 plan reward) |
Economy gives no plan reward and no renewal credit.
Each time the person's Pro, Premium or Max plan renews and they pay, you get more credit: $1 for Pro, $3 for Premium and $8 for Max. This is paid for up to 12 renewals for each person you invite.
All of these amounts are in dollars of account credit, not extra usage.
Milestones: badges and discounts
A milestone counts the people you invited who have paid for a personal plan and have not been refunded.
| People who have paid | What you get |
|---|---|
| 1 | The Insider badge |
| 10 | The Advocate badge, $10 of account credit, and 10% off web plans |
| 25 | The Legend badge, $25 of account credit, and 20% off web plans |
The discount applies to your web plan. Only the highest discount you have reached counts, so 20% replaces 10% and the two do not add up.
Badges show on your profile. On the web, open Settings and then Account. On the phone, open Settings, and your badges are at the top of the Account page.
When someone you invited pays for their first plan, or you reach a milestone, you get a notification if notifications are on.
Your progress on the phone
On the phone, the Referrals page shows:
- Milestone progress, with how many paying people you have, the next milestone and what it gives,
- Your statistics, with four numbers: Referrals (people who used your code), Signed up (people who signed in with a confirmed account), Subscribed (people who have paid for a personal plan) and Earned (the total you have earned, in dollars).
Using your account credit
Account credit is shown under Account credit on the Usage page on the web. It comes off your next plan payment on the web, and it does not change your usage limits. It does not expire. It cannot pay for a plan bought in the App Store or in Google Play. Read Gifts from Bluedeer for more about it.
If a payment is refunded
If a person you invited is refunded, or their payment is charged back, the rewards from that payment are taken back. That person then stops counting towards your milestones. Milestones you have already reached stay as they are.
If you have already spent the credit, your balance can drop below zero. Later rewards pay that amount off first.
