# Who can see team chats, files and projects

How privacy settings decide who in a team can see a chat, a file or a project.

Each chat, file and project in a team has a privacy setting. Team owners and admins cannot open private items.

## Chats

A chat is private to you by default. Other people can see a chat in these cases:

- You create a share link for it with **Share conversation**. See [Team share link rules](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/administration/team-share-link-rules.md) for who may create links.
- The chat is in a project that the team can see. Chats in a project follow the project's visibility.

## Files

In **File manager**, open the file's menu and select **Share**. The **Access & public links** dialog lets you choose one of these options:

- **Only me**: only you can open the file. Not even team admins can read it.
- **Specific people**: you, and the people you give access to.
- **Everyone in team**: every active member of the team can see the file.

## Projects

When you create a project in a team, choose one of these options:

- **Only me**: only the creator can see the project. An admin who manages a project sees it as **Only its creator**.
- **Everyone in the team**: every active member can see the project.

## When someone leaves

If you leave a team or are removed from it, the content you shared with the team may stay in the team. Content that is private to you is not shared with the team.

To see what each role can change, read [Roles in a team](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/members-and-seats/roles-in-a-team.md).
