# Change the workspace name and logo

Who can rename a workspace, who can upload or remove its logo, which image files work, and what people you invite see.

The workspace name and logo identify your workspace. Only the owner can change the name. The owner and admins can upload a logo, and only the owner can remove it. Members cannot change either one. For everything each role can do, see [Roles in a workspace](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/members-and-seats/roles-in-a-team.md).

## Change the workspace name

Only the owner sees the name controls. Admins see a note that says only the owner can rename, transfer or delete the workspace.

1. Open the **Workspace** page and select **Settings**. The **Workspace name** panel is on the General tab.
2. Type the new name. It can be up to 100 characters. Spaces at the start and end are removed, and the name cannot be left empty.
3. Select **Save**. Bluedeer confirms with "Workspace renamed."

On the phone, open **Manage workspace**. In the **Identity** section, tap **Workspace name**, type the new name, and tap **Save**.

The new name appears in the workspace list and the sidebar straight away. Renaming does not change the workspace address, which stays the same for good. The activity list records the change and shows the old name. Owners and admins can read it. See [See a workspace's activity](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/administration/workspace-activity.md).

## Upload or replace the logo

The owner and admins can do this. If the workspace has no logo yet, the button says **Upload logo**. If it has one, the button says **Replace logo**.

1. Open the **Workspace** page, select **Settings**, and find **Workspace logo** on the General tab.
2. Select **Upload logo** or **Replace logo**, then choose the image.
3. Wait for the upload to finish. The new image appears and Bluedeer shows **Logo updated**.

On the phone, open **Manage workspace**, find **Workspace logo** under **Identity**, and tap **Upload logo** or **Replace logo**. You choose a picture and crop it to a square.

The logo must meet these rules:

- It must be a PNG, JPEG or WebP image. SVG files are not accepted.
- It must be 1 MB or smaller. On the web, Bluedeer checks the file on your device before sending it, so a file that is too large or the wrong type is refused straight away.

Replacing a logo does not ask for confirmation.

## Remove the logo

Only the owner can remove the logo. Admins see the note "Only the owner can remove the logo."

1. On the General tab, select **Remove** next to the logo.
2. In the dialog, select **Remove logo**.

On the phone, tap **Remove** under the logo and then **Remove logo** in the alert.

Bluedeer then shows the workspace's first letter in place of the logo. You can upload a new logo again at any time.

## What people see

- **In the app:** everyone in the workspace sees the name, so choose one that your whole team will recognise. Members do not see the logo controls on the web, and on the phone they see the logo but cannot change it.
- **On the invitation page:** a person you invite sees the workspace name before they join. The logo is not shown on that page.
- **In the invitation email:** the name appears in the subject and in the text, but the logo does not.

Bluedeer lets you save any name. If the name looks like a well-known brand, people you invite see "A Bluedeer workspace" instead of the name, and no logo, until the owner verifies a domain that belongs to that brand. See [Verify a domain for your workspace](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/administration/verified-domains.md).

If ownership moves to another member, the new owner gets the rename and remove controls. See [Transfer workspace ownership](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/administration/transfer-team-ownership.md).
