# What do the spending figures on my AI provider key mean?

What each figure in the From your OpenRouter account block means, where it comes from, and why it may look out of date.

When your workspace uses its own OpenRouter key, the **AI provider key** section shows a block called **From your OpenRouter account**. Only the workspace's owner and admins see it. Everyone else in the workspace sees only that a key is in use. To connect a key first, read [Can I use my own AI provider key?](https://support.bluedeer.ai/plans-and-billing/general/use-your-own-ai-provider-key.md).

The amounts are in US dollars. They are not part of your Bluedeer plan, and they do not change what the plan costs.

## Where the figures come from

The block uses two sources:

- **OpenRouter's figures for the key.** Bluedeer asks OpenRouter about the key and keeps what it reports. These are the lines about credit, limits, spending, the account type and the expiry date. They cover the whole key at OpenRouter, not only this workspace.
- **Bluedeer's record of this workspace's replies.** When a reply in this workspace is paid with a workspace key, Bluedeer records the cost that OpenRouter reported for that reply. The two **Billed for this workspace** lines add those costs up. They cover only this workspace's AI replies. Web search and the other tools are not included. They also include replies paid with a key that was later replaced or removed, so they are not limited to the key shown now.

## What each line means

**Credit left on this key** is how much of the key's spending limit is still unused, as OpenRouter reports it. It appears only when OpenRouter reports a spending limit for the key. When no credit is left under that limit, the key shows **Out of credit** at the next check. A reply that OpenRouter refuses for lack of credit also shows it straight away.

**Spending limit on this key** is the limit set on the key at OpenRouter, or **No limit set**. To change it, use OpenRouter, not Bluedeer.

**Spent with this key so far** is the total OpenRouter has counted on the key up to the last check. It includes any other use of the same key outside Bluedeer, so it can be higher than the billed lines.

**Account type** shows whether your OpenRouter account is on the free tier or a paid one. It appears only when OpenRouter reports it.

**Key expires** is the date and time OpenRouter gives for the key to stop working. It appears only if the key has an expiry date.

**Billed for this workspace today** is what this workspace's AI replies cost on a workspace key since midnight UTC today.

**Billed for this workspace this month** is the same, counted from the first day of the current month in UTC. Both lines are hidden while no key is connected, and they come back with the next key.

The last line of the block says **OpenRouter last reported them**, followed by a date and time. That is when the OpenRouter figures above were last updated.

## Why a figure may look out of date

- **The OpenRouter figures are only as new as the last check.** Bluedeer updates them when you connect the key, replace it, or select **Check now**. It does not refresh them by itself. If you add credit at OpenRouter, the figure here changes only after **Check now**. If OpenRouter cannot be reached during a check, the figures stay as they were.
- **A reply is counted only once its final cost is known.** Bluedeer gets that cost from OpenRouter shortly after the reply ends. Until then, the reply is not in the billed lines, so the newest reply may be missing.
- **Days and months start at midnight UTC.** In most time zones, a reply sent in the evening can already count toward the next day or month.
- **The billed lines may differ slightly from OpenRouter's own statement.** They are Bluedeer's record of what each reply cost. For the exact amounts you were charged, use your account page at OpenRouter.
- **The billed lines show $0.00 until a reply uses the key.** That is normal for a new key or a new month.
