# What does the Android app ask permission for?

Explains the microphone and notification permissions on Android, the notification categories you can control, and how the app reaches your files.

The Bluedeer app asks for two permissions on Android: the microphone and notifications. It does not ask for access to all of your storage.

## Microphone

The app asks for microphone access the first time you record a voice message. Without it, you cannot record. To change the choice later, open Android's settings for Bluedeer and turn the microphone permission on or off.

## Notifications

The app asks for permission to show notifications when you turn on **Push Notifications** under **Settings > App > Notifications**. If you declined earlier, the row says "Previously denied". Tap it, then tap **Open Settings**, which opens Android's settings for Bluedeer.

On Android, notifications are sorted into five categories. Each one can be switched on or off, and its sound and vibration can be changed, in Android's settings for Bluedeer.

| Category | What it covers |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| Default | General notifications from Bluedeer |
| Scheduled Tasks | Results when your tasks finish. These use vibration. |
| Task activity | Quiet updates while your tasks run. These do not vibrate. |
| Reminders | Reminders you asked Bluedeer to send |
| Account & Security | Login alerts, subscription changes and critical messages |

To stop the quiet progress updates while keeping the results of your tasks, turn off **Task activity**.

## Files

Files you attach to a message are chosen with Android's own file picker, so the app does not need general storage access.

To add files to the Files tab, drag them from another app onto the screen. The app shows "Drop files to upload" and adds them to the folder you are viewing.
