# How do I connect a service from a card in chat?

When the assistant needs a built-in service you have not connected yet, it shows a card in the chat that you use to sign in.

You do not need to set up a built-in service in advance. Ask for something that needs it, and the assistant shows a connection card in the chat if the service is not connected yet.

## Connect from the card

1. Ask for the task, for example "Summarize my meetings for tomorrow."
2. The card appears with a title such as **Connect Google Calendar**. It says the service needs your permission before Bluedeer can continue. A card that asks for more access than you have shows **Additional permissions needed** instead.
3. Select the sign-in button. For Google services it reads **Continue with Google**. For Slack it reads **Sign in with Slack**. For Notion it reads **Continue with Notion**.
4. Finish the sign-in in the provider's tab, then return to Bluedeer. The card shows that the service is connected.
5. On the web, if the card shows **Continue conversation**, select it so the assistant finishes the request. Otherwise, send a new message.

Your connection belongs to you in this workspace. Other members connect their own.

## If you do not want to connect

On the phone, select **Not now**. Nothing is connected, and the card says the service was skipped. You can connect it later by asking again.

## If the connection fails

- If the card says **Couldn't connect** followed by the service name, select the button on the card to try again.
- If the card says the connection expired or access was removed, select the button on the card to reconnect.
- If the card says the service is unavailable here, an owner or admin of the team needs to turn it on first. See [Who can add connectors and which plan you need](https://support.bluedeer.ai/connectors/general/who-can-add-connectors.md).

For Google, Slack and Notion, the button on the card shows the sign-in name, such as **Continue with Google**, rather than **Try again** or **Reconnect**.
