# How do I add a custom connector?

Add a custom connector by its MCP server URL, choose how it signs in, and check its tools before you rely on them.

Custom connectors need the Pro, Premium or Business plan. Only the owner, or an admin of a team, can add one. Read [Who can add connectors and which plan you need](https://support.bluedeer.ai/connectors/general/who-can-add-connectors.md).

If the service is on the popular connectors list, use the one-click option instead. Read [Connect a popular connector with one click](https://support.bluedeer.ai/connectors/pre-built/popular-connectors.md).

## Add the connector on the web

1. Select **More**, then **Customization**, and open the **Connectors** tab.
2. Select **Add connector**.
3. In **Name**, enter a name for the connector, such as Linear.
4. In **MCP server URL**, enter the server's address. It must start with https, such as `https://mcp.example.com/mcp`. Bluedeer refuses addresses with a username or password, and addresses that are not public.
5. In **Sign-in**, choose one of the types described below.
6. Select **Connect**. Bluedeer contacts the server, reads its tools, and then saves the connector.

On the phone, open **Manage workspace**, tap **Add connector** in the **Connections** section, and fill in **Name**, **MCP server URL** and **How Bluedeer signs in to it**.

## Sign-in types

- **No sign-in.** The server needs no credentials.
- **API token.** Choose where to send the token. **A request header** is the usual choice, with the header name `Authorization` and the text `Bearer ` before the token. **The request body** sends the token as a named field. Enter the **Token**. Once it is saved, leave the field empty to keep it.
- **Sign in with the provider (OAuth).** After you save, a dialog asks you to sign in at the provider. Select **Sign in** to continue. Everyone in the workspace uses the tools through this one sign-in. To use your own OAuth app, open **Advanced: use your own OAuth client** and enter the client ID, client secret and scopes.

## Review the tools

For a connector with no sign-in or an API token, a dialog shows its tools after you save it. For a connector that signs in at the provider, the dialog asks you to sign in first. Every tool starts turned on and asks you before it runs. Select **Done**, and change the settings later if you need to. Read [Manage a custom connector's tools](https://support.bluedeer.ai/connectors/custom/manage-custom-connector-tools.md).

If the connector fails to save, read [Why won't my connector connect or sign in?](https://support.bluedeer.ai/connectors/custom/troubleshoot-connectors.md).
