# How do I share a file?

Share a file from the File manager by choosing who in the team can open it, then creating a Live or Snapshot link with an optional expiry.

These steps are for the web app.

## Open the sharing settings

1. In the File manager, open the file's menu and choose **Share**.
2. The **Access & public links** window opens. Workspace access and public links are separate settings.

## Workspace access

Under **Workspace access**, choose who can find and open the file:

- **Only me**: just you. Not even team admins can read it.
- **Specific people**: the people you add by email. For each one, choose **Can read** or **Can edit**.
- **Everyone in team**: every active member of the team.

## Public links

Under **Public links**:

1. Choose a **Link type**. A **Live link** follows future versions of the file. A **Snapshot link** freezes the version you have now.
2. Choose **Who can open it**: **Public**, **Workspace** (team workspaces only) or **Specific people**.
3. Choose an expiry if you want the link to stop working on a date.
4. Create the link. Existing links are listed below, where you can copy, change or revoke them.

Anyone allowed by a link can read the file until you revoke the link.

## Who can share a team file

In a team workspace, members can share only the files they created. Team admins and the owner can manage the sharing of any file.

For how to change a file itself, see [Rename, move or delete a file](https://support.bluedeer.ai/bluedeer/files/rename-move-and-delete-files.md).
