# How do I limit which apps and connectors a project can use?

In a project's Settings, let it use everything the workspace has turned on, or only the apps and connectors you pick. Built-in apps apply to the whole project, while connectors apply only to your own chats and scheduled tasks in it.

These steps are for the web app. The phone has the same choice under **Project settings**, described at the end of this article. Read [What is a project?](https://support.bluedeer.ai/bluedeer/projects-and-memory/what-is-a-project.md) first if you have not used projects before.

Each project has an **Integrations and connectors** section. It decides which of the workspace's built-in apps, such as Gmail or Slack, and which connectors to other services, such as Linear, the project's chats and scheduled tasks may use.

## The two choices

- **All**: the project can use everything the workspace has turned on. A built-in app the workspace turns on later, or a connector you add later, is included automatically.
- **Only the ones I choose**: the project can use only the apps and connectors you tick. A built-in app turned on later, or a connector added later, is not included until you tick it.

If you choose **Only the ones I choose** and tick nothing, the project uses no built-in apps, and your own connectors are not used in it either.

## Whose choice applies

**Built-in apps** belong to the project. The choice covers every chat and scheduled task in the project, whoever starts it.

**Connectors** belong to each person. Your choice limits only the connectors you have added, and only in your own chats and scheduled tasks in the project. A teammate's chats and tasks in the same project are not affected. Their connectors and their own choice are kept when you save. A teammate who has not made a choice in the project can use all of their own connectors there.

## What a restricted project does

A chat or scheduled task in the project is not offered any built-in app that the project does not list, and it cannot use one. The same goes for your own connectors that the project does not list, in your own chats and tasks there.

Chats and tasks outside the project are not affected. They can still use everything you have turned on.

## Change the setting

1. Open the project and click **Settings**.
2. Find **Integrations and connectors**.
3. Choose **All**, or choose **Only the ones I choose**.
4. If you chose **Only the ones I choose**, tick each app or connector the project may use. The line above the list shows how many are chosen, for example "2 chosen".
5. Click **Save**. To leave without saving, click **Cancel**.

If the project was already limited when you opened **Settings**, switching to **All** and back to **Only the ones I choose** before you save brings back the choice it was saved with. A project that was saved as **All** starts with nothing ticked.

**Settings** is shown to the person who created the project. In a project shared with everyone in a shared workspace, the owner and admins can open it too. See [Who can see a project?](https://support.bluedeer.ai/bluedeer/projects-and-memory/project-visibility.md).

## Find an app or connector in the list

The list has two groups: **Integrations** for built-in apps, and **Connectors** for your own connectors.

- Built-in apps appear once the workspace has turned them on. An app the project already had ticked stays in the list even if the workspace has since turned it off, and it shows the note **Off in this workspace**.
- Connectors appear for everything you have added in this workspace, whatever state each one is in.
- When there are nine or more items to choose from, a search box appears at the top. Type part of a name to narrow the list.
- Click **Show chosen** to see only the ticked items, and **Show all** to go back to the full list.

## Notes beside an item

- **Off in this workspace**: the item has no effect while this note shows, even if it is ticked. For a built-in app, the owner or an admin has to turn it on again for the workspace. For a connector, the note means that custom connectors are off in the workspace, the workspace's plan does not include them, or you have switched that connector off. See [Turn built-in services and custom connectors on or off for a workspace](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/administration/workspace-integrations.md).
- **Needs sign-in**: you have not signed in to this connector yet, or you need to sign in again. Until you do, the project cannot use it.
- **Connection problem**: the connector is still used, but it may not work until the problem is fixed.

## Add a connector that is not in the list

A connector has to be added before it can be chosen:

1. Close **Settings**, then click **Customization** in the sidebar.
2. Open the **Connectors** tab and add the connector. See [Who can add connectors and which plan you need](https://support.bluedeer.ai/connectors/general/who-can-add-connectors.md).
3. Open the project again, click **Settings**, choose **Only the ones I choose**, tick the new connector, and click **Save**.

If you cannot add a custom connector at all, the workspace may have custom connectors turned off. Only the owner or an admin can turn them on. See [Turn built-in services and custom connectors on or off for a workspace](https://support.bluedeer.ai/team/administration/workspace-integrations.md).

## On the phone

Open the project and tap **Project settings**. Under **Integrations and connectors**, choose **All** or **Only the ones I choose**, tick what you want, and tap **Save**. If the list is empty, the screen links to **Manage workspace**, where connectors are added.
