# How do I organise files in folders?

Create folders in the File manager, move files into them, and know what you cannot yet do with folders.

These steps are for the web app.

## Create a folder

1. Open the folder that should hold the new folder. To work at the top level, open the File manager without opening a folder.
2. Click **New folder**.
3. Enter a **Folder name** and confirm.

## Move a file into a folder

1. Choose **Move to folder** from the file's menu. To move several files, select them and click **Move to folder** in the bar above the list.
2. In the **Move to folder** window, choose the destination folder.

To find a file in the folder you are viewing, type in **Search this folder**.

## What you cannot do with folders yet

- You cannot rename a folder.
- You cannot delete a folder.
- You cannot move a folder into another folder.

A folder only has an **Open** action. To remove a folder's contents, delete the files inside it, one by one or several at a time.

To change a file, see [Rename, move or delete a file](https://support.bluedeer.ai/bluedeer/files/rename-move-and-delete-files.md).
