# How do I see earlier versions of a file?

Open a file's version history to see its versions and download an older one, and know what you cannot do with versions yet.

Each time a file is updated, the earlier version is kept as a version of that file. These steps are for the web app.

## Open the version history

Choose **Version history** from the file's menu. The window lists the versions, and the newest one is marked **Current**. A file that has only one version shows the message "This file has only one version."

## Download an older version

Click **Download version** with the number of the version you want, next to that version.

## Delete some versions

Choose **Delete** from the file's menu. If the file has more than one version, the window lists them under the file name. Tick the versions you want to delete, for example **Delete version 2 of** the file, then click **Delete**. Versions you do not tick are kept.

## What you cannot do yet

- You cannot restore an older version as the current one. You can download it, but the current version stays the same.
