# How do I turn on two-factor authentication?

Turn on two-factor authentication in Settings with an authenticator app, so that signing in also asks for a 6-digit code.

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you sign in. These steps are for the web app.

## Turn it on

1. Open **Settings** and choose the **Account** tab.
2. Under **Security & Authentication**, find **Two-factor authentication** and click **Set up**.
3. In the **Set up two-factor authentication** window, scan the QR code with an authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, click **Copy the key** and enter the key in your app.
4. Enter the 6-digit code that the app shows in **6-digit code**, then click **Turn on**.

After it is on, signing in asks for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app. In some cases Bluedeer sends the code to your email address instead. The sign-in screen says which.

## Turn it off

1. In the **Two-factor authentication** row, click **Turn off**.
2. In the **Turn off two-factor authentication?** window, enter a code from your authenticator app.
3. Click **Turn off**.

Your password alone signs you in after that.

If the code keeps being refused, the sign-in step may have expired. Start the sign-in again.
